Navigation Support for On Bottom Seismic Reflection Survey in Gulf of Mexico

In the spring of 2021, Seaforth was contracted to provide navigation support for an On Bottom Seismic (OBS) reflection survey offshore of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. The focus of the seismic reflection project was to acoustically image the subsurface sediments beneath the seafloor to find evidence of subsea oil or gas deposits.

The positioning support supplied by Seaforth Geosurveys included surface navigation systems with an Integrated Navigation Software (INS) for a graphical display of the real-time position of the vessels and monitoring their movement and singlebeam echosounders to collect bathymetry data. Navigation was provided navigation for an OBS deployment / recovery vessel, an acoustic source vessel and a transceiver pinger vessel.
