in September of 2023, Seaforth conducted a telecommunications cable route survey between the communities of Fort Severn, Peawanuck, in Ontario & Kuujjuarapik, Quebec. Seaforth was under contract with Keewaytinook Okimakanak. To complete the survey, Seaforth partnered with the Arctic Research Foundation (ARF) and the survey was conducted from the RV William Kennedy. Inshore surveys were conducted using Seaforth’s survey launch, which was carried onboard the William Kennedy, between the landings.
Prior to the marine survey, Seaforth completed a desktop study (DTS) in order to To determine cable route risks and summarise existing datasets. Seaforth / ARF completed the DTS following standard templates with custom modification for information relevant to the northern region of Canada.
